How do you actually buy altcoins / bitcoins quickly?

Lets say I want to buy 1k worth of ripple today. Where do I go?

What about other coins like bitcoin/litecoin etc with coinbase completely shitting the bed with id verification / wire transfers / account deposits?

Hmm.. Besides mining, my money has all entered via coinbase. In order to link to a bank account, anyone will be doing ID verification and they are all behind. I trade at poloniex and cryptopia.

There are other exchanges, but they may be backlogged too, on ID verification

You can open a trading account at cryptopia with no ID, but they don't deal in fiat, so no bank links.

Give money to someone with coins and have them send to your cryptopia account, maybe. They could rebuy on coinbase with your funds.

No way to buy Ripple today. Bitstamp is massively backlogged and Kraken's account generation is not working. They are the only 2 places for Ripple that I know.

Why don't you just buy bitcoin at an ATM? You know, with cash.

Fees are high, not crazy high. Buy fee is an average of 12% and sell is 5% across all ATMs.

You can usually find a spot buyer/seller on Localbitcoins.

I didn't want to provide bank info to these guys. Did you set up another account or something? I don't want anyone to have access to all my bank info.

No, I didn't but you certainly can do that. Coinbase is partly owned by the NYSE. They are not any type of a scam.

In case you are curious:

GBTC holds 174,174 bitcoins
GBTC has 1,868,700 total shares
174,174 * 15,875.09 = $2,765,027,925.66 total value of fund
$2,765,027,925.66 / 1,868,700 = $1479.65

So anything above $1479.65 is a premium over what it is worth.
