I don't think there are that many generations of Paperwhite...that said, even the first gen kicks ass...third one might be 2nd gen,not sure

I got one of these earlier this year. Thought it was a real deal but now the battery won't hold a charge for more than a few days. I expect it will just get worse from here on out.

I just lost mine on a plane and would rebuy this model again. I don't read too often and it doesn't take much to power it on. Really easy to read and fit in the back of my pocket.

Is it still good to buy a used model when the lifetime of battery probably wouldn't last as long as the new ones?

I have a Nook ST that is 7 years old (I think) and still holds a charge like a champ. I don't think the battery is too big of a deal since these don't draw a ton of power.
