Desktop computer?

538 69 December 20, 2017 at 01:44 PM
My parent's desktop computer is very slow and old, probably 12yrs old at this point. It's running Lubuntu LTS and it's still super slow. All they do is browse the web and watch videos online.

Where can I buy an affordable desktop computer for them? I searched are there are no deals posted. I looked at Dell refurbished computers and they are at least $500. I can't imagine that I need that expensive of a computer for them to watch videos online. I've also had no luck with Craigslist. Do I need a dedicated video card?

I wear that if you have only $150 you can buy a gaming system with normal graphic card. I have also just changed my CPU. I just bought corei5 2nd genration with ssd hard and 512 vga and believe me you will love it.. Before that i was using core2dou but it was getting too slow that is why i changed my PC and i am loving it

Look for Ebay. PC or laptop there should be some options for 200-300 dollar region. I dont think they need PC.

You dont need dedicated video card at all. You dont need a new gen processor.
Even Atom, Celeron processor would work for them but if they want little bit faster pc you should go with i3 or AMD equavailent.

You can also buy a cheap laptop. Its fairly easy to connect it to a monitor.

Check Best Buy for some Black Friday leftovers. I picked up this Gateway all-in-one PC for around $300-350 a few months after Black Friday. Then it dropped 2-3 other times till it was down to $200.

While Black Friday may be gone some of the stock from those sales may still be in the stores.Stick Out Tongue

The trick is finding what is still there and what isn't since Best Buy fixed a glitch on their website that allowed you to swap out the SKU of an item that may be de-listed into the URL for another items inventory checker and find out if they still had stock of it.

So now the only way to look up these items would be to go in store and have a blue shirt look them up for you manually. It may be a hassle if you're accustomed to getting everything shipped to your door from Amazon or wherever, but it's the best way to find a lower priced deal on these items. That is unless there's a stock checker for Best Buy that's actually decent out there on the web like Brickseek is for Walmart and Target.
