Sharpness claims really don't matter, because even if it's not the sharpest of the group, it's still really sharp. I wouldn't doubt that if stopped down to 1.8 that you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between any of the lenses. It's probably hard enough at 1.4 without pixel peeping.

And to top it off, this is a crop sensor camera, so the weakest part of any lens probably isn't even covered by the viewfinder.

The 50mm 1.4 that comes bundled with the 7D II deal is a solid, sharp lens.

For a sports or wildlife shooter, the 7Dii offers a joystick, superior weather sealing, 10 FPS and an extremely deep buffer. A nice set of advantages over the 80D. Not knocking the 80D, though, for those looking for a more refined all-around body.

How does this compare to the 80d 3 lens bundle for 1200? Pros and cons between the 2 bodies?

The 7D has better autofocus, longer rated shutter, and better burst. 80D has a touchscreen. None of the lenses are particularly good imo.

If you are shooting sports, go with the 7D. Otherwise you should be very happy with the 80D

The 1.8 is sharper than the 1.4. The 1.4 USM loves to shit itself. The sigma 1.4 blows it out of the water. And that's the standard, not the ART lens.

80d if the video aspect has a high value to you.

7d if stronger photo related features like really good auto focus that's passed down from the 1D line.
