https://www.lowes.com/pd/IRWIN-17...t/50433648

IRWIN 17-piece spade bit set features Blue-Groove points and cutting edges for faster chip removal, making it ideal for all your carpentry, electrical and plumbing projects
Double cutting spurs etch the outside of the hole to create cleaner holes and reduce breakout
Grooved hex shank prevents slipping in drill chuck or bit extension, allowing the tool to grip the bit more securely for greater torque
Fits all standard quick change chucks, so you don't have to worry about interruptions
Handy carrying case includes holder for each bit and VELCRO snap to keep them secure

Compare to Amazon at $21 and up (3rd party sellers).

Don't drill out the middle hole. These bits need that piece of wood in the middle to bite into as an anchor when you start. Without the Center it will bounce all over and you'll be disappointed with the result.

These will do great for you.

Also if you have any scraps laying around practice drilling one or two holes. You'll see it's quite easy.

Good luck.

I bought these on Black Friday at this price and it's a decent deal. The nice thing is they come with a canvas fold-over case.

I had a couple of spade bits laying around, i found I never have the one my need in that situation. So I started looking for a new set.

I never really use the smaller size as I tend to use twist drills. I guess these are easier to sharpen. I do use the large size a lot though.

Weekend DIY question. Are they good for drilling holes through 1-2" boards? What type of drill do they go with impact or drill. Thanks

These should do the job. They are hex, so they'll work in your impact driver as well as your drill.

I use my drill for making the holes and impact driver to fill them (drive screws)

Thanks for the tips. Should I use a drill bit, then the hex, for precision. Or this will go straight through just fine

Picked up a set. They were listed at 19.99 but rang up at the correct price. Good buy!
