Just remember, this will only send 24v directly through the PoE port. In order to send 48v (which some access points require), you will need a different power adapter. You will have to get a 40w 1.25a power supply. The EdgeRouter PoE can do this, but it is also ~$150.

Highly recommend Ubiquiti. For a small network, this is a great router to start with.

I recently replaced my 2x Airport Extreme setup with 2x Ubiquity APs (UAP-AC-LR [amazon.com]) paired with their more-expensive ERPOE-5 router [amazon.com]. The total costed less than one Airport Extreme and has much more range/speed. Be warned that configuration/troubleshooting is hard, but it gets you some robust network customizability and speed.

If I have a 24 port switch in my basement, feeding outlets throughout the house, 3 of which have ubiquity APs in them, is this what I need if I want to be able to feed them power direct over Ethernet with no adaptor at the AP end?

No. This one only has 1 PoE port. Also, you can put the adapter in the basement before feeding through the switch. That's what I do for my AP and cameras.

No, you need a small POE switch. Make sure you check the power requirements of your specific APs first as not all have the same requirement.

Also, as a side note, your existing POE injectors will probably work at either side if it is more convenient to put them near the switch in the basement.

Bought it. Was just wondering yesterday if they made 5 port switches that run on POE. Wanted one for my office. This is half the price of the Netgear I found.
