Got this last time for $10 and it's awesome. Powered (AC) USB hub and hard drive enclosure - perfect for expansion for my laptop desktop replacement. Also works great for expanding the Alienware Alpha - I have a small SSD in the single SATA slot and use this external for game storage; the USB 3.0 hub also helps because the Alpha's front USBs are only 2.0.

Darn it, just what I don't need. Another hub/device.

The 2A 5v power supply is almost worth it just because I can use it for so many other things...

Can you use just one USB cable to power on the SSD drive? Or a power connection is always required?

If all you want to do it power the drive, you can use this without the external power supply. It seems to draw a bit more than other cases, but on my old Dell it will power the drive. If you want to use the other USB ports (from the internal hub) you need the external power supply hooked up.
