Steam Link $4.99 at GameStop

I guess since it's classified as a console, there is no free shipping.
I've tried "saver" and an order over $50 and free shipping wouldn't apply.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

But Steam usually charges like $7 or $8 for shipping if I remember right...

Pretty cool device, I have 3 monitors, and with the Steamlink hooked to my projector, whatever monitor my mouse goes over is immediately mirrored to the projector (Just turn off Steam's Big Picture Mode after connecting). To play games not on steam with a controller hooked to the SteamLink, just make a shortcut to the .exe of the game in your Steam Library and launch from there. I am using a wired connection to my router for both Steamlink and my PC, as recommended. The Steam controller sucks in my opinion, it feels light and cheap and the controls are so close that my thumbs constantly bump into each other when playing games. Oh and the "additional" sqeeze buttons/triggers on the button of the controller, are just mirrors of the bumper keys, they are not bindable on their own. Which renders them pointless. I suggest picking up a DS4 (PS4 controller) and using that instead. Rumble works now with SteamLink and DS4.

If I already have an NVIDIA shield tv (game streaming is mediocre at best) is there any reason to have this?

This let's you connect directly to a PC and mirrors it on your TV. The shield does not allow for that unless you also have an NVIDIA gpu.

They are nice to for streaming your desktop to your TV. You can just minimize big picture and use the desktop.
