There are absolutely zero reviews for this camera on amazon and Best Buy. Amazons 4 thousand "reviews" are all for a smart plug, not the camera

There are currently 79 reviews for the Cam (you can filter reviews based on model) although I'm not sure how to easily figure out the average rating of those 79 reviews.

It stores 2 days of video in the cloud for free. Their premium service, "Kasa Care" is currently in public beta and currently free. I don't think they've announced the pricing yet. The subscription service was supposed to launch in November but has been pushed back to January according to their website.

I returned this camera. Its not good at detecting motion at all. Doesn't work well in kasa app. Specifically the view live feature will tell you that the camera is unbelievable even though it just alerted you there was motion.

It's twisted to make the camera look better than it is. It's sad that it mixed with other kasa devices that are not camera. FAIL!

I am betting that it will get pushed

I have this camera.

Picture quality is decent.
Sound quality is decent.
App only, no web access, app kinda sucks for the camera. App is fine for everything else.
Alerts are reliable.
Remote viewing via the app doesn't work more often than it does.
Remote viewing via the Echo Show works every time. I'm very happy with that feature.

It has one, in my opinion deal breaking problem. It only records short clips. Because of that it misses crucial stuff.

There is no easy way to download and share clips. I downloaded them to my phone, then uploaded to Dropbox to share with the police after a recent break in. The added complexity was not helpful at that time.

It'd be in a drawer if it wasn't for the Echo Show.

I'm do have hope that it will improve and become more useful over time though. TPLink has been making slow but steady progress with 3rd party support in their app. They recently added IFTTT for plugs and such. If they add the camera, it could make for great motion detector trigger because you can mask out parts of the view to trigger and to not.

Thanks Zanthexter,

Enjoyed reading the review. So it looks like a rtsp feed is not available for this camera?

As far as I know, no. Unlike the other TP Link cameras this is deliberately locked down to just the app. AFAIK there's no web access or ability to the into BlueIris or other NVR software.

The Amcrest Shield is comparable is size and shape, uglier and all plastic though. The Kasa is all metal. Feels premium in hand. Anyway, the Amcrest does ONVIF and should work with a wide selection of 3rd party stuff.
