Not necessarily. If youre connecting your device to your computer, that has top usb 3.0 ports, the short cord is nice to keep things tidy.

It is also useful for multi-port usb charging stations, to prevent 'medusa-like' 3 ft common cords from making your desk look like a pigsty.

I actually plan on using it.

Half foot is really great for portable battery packs. A lot less cord to tote around. Also for travelling.

I've actually had a few different braided cables fail on me recently, after <1yr of fairly gentle use. If this particular brand is good, that's good to know, but ymmv on braided cables in general!

It most definitely is not. Super useful for when you need to keep the phone plugged in with a portable power pack, or need to connect it to a usb hub.`

I will say that if Benson hasn't reviewed and confirmed a USB C cable, I avoid buying it.

I thought he stopped months ago ever since Amazon became more strict with their cable listing to prevent counterfeits

It has admittedly been a while since I saw a recent post, but I just grab whatever he's rated on his site/Amazon
