could i update my android phone with an inactive AT&T sim card? (they are on ebay for $2) It's an unlocked AT&T zte z958. But my sim card is with tmobile so no updates past 5.1...would my phone be recognized as att and be able to download and over the air update? Again...it would be an att sim card but not active.

thanks

I would post the question on XDA Developers Forum.

You might want to try with no sim installed. You could try an AT&T prepaid sim too.

searching at xda or howardfourms is what I'd recommend.

Why do conservative politicians oppose conservation?
Have you ever stopped to think the long-term GOP immigration policy might be to make the United States of America a less desirable place to live than Mexico?

Apparently you can download the update directly from ZTE

THIS IS NOT AN OTA UPDATE, IT WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE. BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST.

Thanks man..but I did that and it failed. Unfortunately the update only works if your phone is already at .26 build. Mine is still at .14 build. So i'd need 4 patches in between to enable my phone to take the actual update to android...

here;s the long and boring failure story about that failed update..
