How does this compare to Velop /Google wifi? Been looking for a good mesh setup, seems tempting.

Just picked up the Orbi RBK50 at WalMart for $199, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

These had some pretty good info...

Sorry. Forgot to post the other thread.

I was actually surprised that a couple of my nearby WalMarts had them for $199. Guy at the pickup counter joked that it took them forever to find it. I ended up getting two.

If you are little bit techi then spend money on edgerouter X router and AP-LR access point...in less than $150 you will have way better range and speed

The 2 x RbK50 is available on Amazon for $316. Did Walmart price match that?

Over priced for what it is, if your looking for cutting edge this is not it. This is just something easy for people who want coverage.

Do u have example links to what you suggest? I'm looking to return the nighthawk x4 bc I've found it had horrible range.

This was the two-piece kit with the base and satellite. WalMart regular price is $339, but if your local store has it discounted, it is $199 at checkout.

$199 is not the "HD" version

Can you provide some more info on this? My understanding is that the edgerouter X doesn't have wi-fi. Is that correct? If so, then won't you just end up with a single wireless access point with your recommended hardware?

If so, will it really give me better range/coverage than something like the AmpliFi system in this post that has multiple access points?

Actually picked up the Orbi but haven't had time to set it up. I also picked up the Samsung Connect Home 3pk (not the Pro) for $130 and set it up. It's actually not bad. I don't really care about speed tests. I care more that my tivo's all stream from the main box seamlessly, my Netflix and such stream seamlessly, and I don't have dead spots anywhere. The three Connects seem to do it. Two on the 2nd floor at opposite sides and one in the basement in the middle. So far so good, and it's also a Smartthings hub which adds $50 of value right there. Had just picked up a standalone Smartthings hub, so I'm thinking I'll return it to Best Buy. At worst down the road, I could sell two of the connects and just keep the one as the hub if I decide to upgrade the setup. The only thing I don't like is the solo ethernet out. But can always throw in a small gigabit switch.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the 4 cellspots I have. Was going to flash them to do the mesh thing, but now I might not bother.
