I just ordered one of these for use as a small tablet at home. I don't plan on activating the phone service, and I hope that I can use it without activation. Please let me know if this phone requires activation to use as a WiFi tablet!

Anyway, the specs look really good for the price, and Walmart is offering free 2-day delivery.

There is a similar Straight Talk Huawei Sensa phone on Slickdeals for $49.99, but Walmart showed out of stock. This is a better deal anyway!

Here is a copy/paste of the specs from Walmart:

Straight Talk H715BL Huawei Sensa 4G LTE Prepaid Smartphone:
4G LTE
Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS
5.5" touchscreen
WiFi capable
Diamond-polished aluminum alloy design

Standby Time: up to 18 days

MP3 player
A-GPS/GPS capabilities
1.5GHz and 1.2GHz octa-core processor

Swappa shows the resolution as 1920x1080 with a 3000 mAh replaceable battery.

As a dumb phone user, something like this interests me as well (a Wifi mini tablet of sorts that doesn't require cell service to be functional).

Phones don't require a Sim to use wifi, if you only want to use at home anything should work. I have several larger phones that work just fine without any Sim, though they do have a message that says to insert Sim - which I just ignore. Still get all normal functions, and I use Hangouts with a Google Voice number so phone rings and can be used as extra phone while on wifi.

That's great to hear. I should receive my new "mini tablet" on December 27, according to Walmart. I'm checking out Google Voice now, too.

Cellphones do make fantastic mini tablets but I prefer 6 inch phones for tablet duty. I like the big $30.00 ZTE's from Metro but also got in on the $19.00 Huawei Ascend XT at Wally. Might be some XT's out there still and I think the Metro deal is ending soon.

1GB of ram with a 1920x1080 screen is going to lag. Reviews say web pages load slow. Some have battery issues. Ideally you want at least 2GB of ram. The Moto E series has 2GB.

Don't know for sure, but probably. Says it has GSM which FreedomPop 3-1 uses.

Paper spec is OK, but 1920x1080 probably going to suffer on that class of CPU (assuming lower-end Allwinner or Mediatek).

Would that be for all Straight Talk phones?
Am interested in the Straight Talk 16GB LG Stylo 3 that I got from Walmart for $50
but haven't found a way to use with mintsim.

no, I think DC unlocker just does Huawei.

some phones can be unlocked via eBay, I see a few that says they unlock that LG for a few dollars. I used this seller for Mototo E4, which was about 24hour turnaround, worked fine.

you need to put the IMEI in the comments to seller. no guarantee, try at your own risk.
