Ordered these online for pickup yesterday (with 3% cashback from Bfrugal) and the reviews didn't exaggerate. All but one of the weights (the 7.5 lbs) were punctured where I could see some sand (not completely leaking thankfully).

Still pretty lit for the price. Using them for now, but going to replace them since these are definitely a nice pair.

I picked up a pair today and they don't have any leaks. I'd say as long as your store has multiple in stock, you could buy another set and see if the plates are better or swap plates to make a good set. (I don't think this counts as return abuse but please correct me if I'm wrong)

This is an amazing price for a 40 lbs. set. The only downside I see is they are quite large for the weight, but that comes with it being cement rather than metal. If you don't need to use both at the same time, you can configure a single bar with 5/10/15/20/30 lbs.

I have had these for almost a year. They are fine for the price I suppose. Place the smaller weights on the inside so the larger ones don't rub up against your wrists. I've outgrown these though, only occasionally using one bar with 30 lbs on it. I've also dropped one once and the bar bent slightly. No sand leaks though.
