It's a quality blender that has a better motor (more power) and consistently blends all the ingredients. I tried several cheaper blenders and nothing works as good as a Blendtec/Vitamix

This unit, the Blendtec Total Blender TB-621-20, is rated 39 on Consumer Reports. The Pro (rated 83) and Designer (rated 82) series are the ones that do the job properly, up there with the upper Vitamix units rated at (85, highest score, and 83).

This unit basically has a factory defect, being discontinued technically, and Amazon is trying to unload their stock. Don't fall for it! The rubber gasket and bearings beneath the container when you attach it to the frame will break within a few months, and you will be mad! It's rated extremely below average on durability for a reason!

Costco sells the better units for way less than retail to begin with.

Seems like a nice price. I would be all over this if I didn't already get a refurb Vitamix.

May I ask what people blend that they need an expensive blender like this for?

Great for green smoothies. I was skeptical, too. But bit the bullet to try from Costco. Never looked back. Several other people I've shown the Vitamix to have ended up buying one. It really is night and day on texture.
I also make my own tahini from sesame seeds. Then use that to make my own hummus. I've made peanut butter, too, but the cleanup sucks. Get the shorter jar so it fits in a dishwasher and you don't have to hand clean it perfectly. Although running one drop of dish soap and filled with hot water in the blender for a few minutes works wonders. But I'm lazy :-/
That said, I do use a little Ninja Pulse for my wife's milk/banana/protein powder shakes in the morning out of convenience.

My LCD display on mine has a few dead pixels. It sometimes doesn't get the stuff on the top to blend. My motor is also much more loud and rattly. Idk if I would recommend...unless you plan on blending iPhones.
