The base game gives a ton of content, and you can play the entire story from beginning to end, without buying a single extra set.

As for shelling out "major $$", most sets are relatively cheap. When on sale, the big story sets typically go for $15 to $20, the levels sets about $10, and the characters about $5.

The sad truth is most games now have this season pass no sense and extra dlc so this is not new so calm down

Great, buy this on the cheap, and then shell out major $$ to get all the expansion sets to actually play the full game.

Wow, is that all? $20 + $10 + $5 x many of each = major $$ for one game; and you may be able to technically get from start to finish without buying anything extra but you'll miss a lot; it's like buying a movie with half the scenes cut out "but you can get to the end". No thanks

Not at all like that actually. Yes you buy more pieces to get more content, but it's more like buying a blu ray and having to pay for the deleted scenes. The deleted scenes have nothing to do with the story, just a little more fun if you really liked the movie.

If you want lots of extras without most of the extra cost buy the game discs separately on Bricklink for a $1 or so each, some more some less.

It is a pretty reliable place to order the sets and figures that you need. I picked up several of the Lego Movie minifigures awhile back at a great price.

Is the Supergirl hard to find? I bought it a while back for $35, still haven't had the chance to open and play with it. Maybe I should just sell the Supergirl for a limb!!!

It's a site where people who like to build a lot of custom LEGO stuff, or make their own LEGO cities, go to to buy individual parts. It's very reliable. I've bought tons of stuff from there. I'm pretty sure the game content is probably pretty cheap on there because most adult fans of LEGO mainly want the minifigures and builds from those packs and not the games themselves.
