Mitutoyo digital caliper $100

I've been checking this caliper for a long time. The lowest I've seen was $140. Currently, it is $100. It is sold by Amazon. I just got one and verified with Mitutoyo to determine if it is authentic, which it is. I can't find any other post on this caliper, however, let me know if I accidentally repost.
I highly recommend that if you buy it, register with Mitutoyo and contact them to verify if what you get is authentic. From my experience, they ask you to take picture of the front and back with the unit on and jaw open to show the numbers. The benefit of verifying with them are first, you know you get the real deal, and if not you can always contact Amazon to exchange for the real one. Secondly, if at one point in time that the caliber breaks within warranty period, you can get Mitutoyo to fix it without worry that the one you send to them is fake.

Good price.
Curious - How did you verify with Mitutoyo about authenticity of the caliper you received?
Thanks

We buy these for work from an industrial supplier. We just happened to be talking about it last week and I was surprised that there are counterfeit mitutoyos. Man, scammers are resourceful

A representative from Mitutoyo will email and ask you to take a picture of the front and the back, especially the battery inside, the unit turn on, and the jaw open.

I concur, which is why I register with Mitutoyo after I get my caliper and ask for authenticity. It's easier to deal with Amazon than third party seller.

These are many times expensive than other cheap options out there but man are they good. We use these in our company and they can take a beating but hold their accuracy really well. The jaw operation is smooth and do not have the wiggle that cheap ones have. Good price.
I didn't even realize that there are counterfeit ones. Even calipers are not safe either.

50 inaccurate calipers won't give you precisely 0.05mm like a good caliper would.

I have a Husky 6" digital caliper I paid $30 for at Home Depot.

Is it really that bad? It seems to give me the same numbers everytime I measure the same thing. I use it for 3D printing. Either designing stuff to fit on another object, or verification of dimensions printed.

The accuracy/repeatability of a cheap caliper is probably going to be way better than your print resolution, so you're fine.

$192 of you want the NIST certificate, which isn't bad either if you need a calibration record. Otherwise calibration is probably ~$50 plus time and effort.
