Does anyone by chance have experience with the X and Note 8? Looking to purchase one of the two and all of the articles I've read seem biased towards one or the other.

It really depends on which OS and ecosystem (Apple iOS vs Android) you prefer. Both phones are great phones, similar size, top screen and camera. I've been using the Note 8 for awhile and purchased iPhone X for my wife and both are great phones. I prefer Android, while she prefers iOS for iMessage, Apple Watch, iTunes.

I can't speak for the Note 8 but I had the X for a couple of days and returned it. I had an Android phone before going to iPhone and some of the things on iOS are simply dealbreakers. Not only does putting music on the phone require iTunes, which can block whatever music it deems unfit, certain common sense approach to UI and functionality you see in Windows and Android is missing in iOS. Even for long time iOS users, Apple made some changes with X that puts them off. The hardware is decent. I'm glad they finally decided to add features Android phones have had for years (OLED and wireless charging).

It really comes down to OS preference, which is by far the most important aspect. If your like me, and you use both Android and IOS regularly - then the differences are screen size and features.

Obviously, the pen is a plus on the Note. I personally never use it, but some swear by it. The biggest difference for me is the screen size and Samsung Pay.

The 5.8" screen on the iPhone X, much like the Galaxy S8 is very misleading. The new 18x9 form factor makes the screen sound larger than it is. On these form factors, a 5.8" screen is really a 4.7 inch screen stretched longer. If you are used to a 5.5 inch screen you might be disappointed by the smaller screen size of an iPhone X. A note 8 / Galaxy S8+ at 6.3"- 6.2" is the equivalent size for the larger 5.5 inch form factor. To me, that's the biggest difference. I prefer the larger screen to the smaller form factor. Supposedly Apple will release a plus sized X next year, so I may reconsider then as I do pretty much every year.

That, and Samsung Pay. It's SOOO much better than Apple and Android pay for the sole reason that it works anywhere you can swipe a credit card, as opposed to just readers that use NFC. In real life, it means I can use it around 95% of the time in place of a credit card -whereas all the others are maybe 25% at best.

Obviously, Apple things like iMessage and various other Apple only features are nice, but their value is entirely dependent on you.

Compare both at a carrier store that has both of them live.
I did and I chose Note 8 and I am an Apple fan.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Main reason I chose Note 8 over X.
