Didn't look at the options, but will comment that I bought a Columbia jacket with Omni-heat and -tech from Rei Garage that has been great this winter in the PNW.

I'm an avid skier and mountaineer, the omniheat works really really well imho. Now I wouldn't use these for technical treks, but debating buying for a backup ski jacket.

I have the green camo-like design last year and the non-standard design ones don't look bad once you're in the slopes. They have a matte finish which doesn't attract too much attention especially when you're going fast. In a sea of plain designs, I would actually pick a design that's different from the rest. Omni-Heat is great too in retaining body heat.

They definitely wouldn't be my first pick, but for a Columbia interchange jacket at $56, I went with it. They have a ton of designs, and the prices seem to be fluctuating a lot. It was a couple bucks more yesterday, and now the pictured one has gone up to $79. Maybe some of the other designs will get marked down at some point. I don't understand how/why the prices change so much. Still, I was happy to get one and am excited to see what it looks like in person. I went with the shark texture, the least ugly of the cheapest IMO.

The whirlibird is one of the few jackets that Columbia makes which has actual thermal and reflective lining and can still be considered warm. It rated highly when tested independently and I got to try one earlier this year, quality jacket. It would be good for snowboarding and skiing.

The brand is mostly for looks just like TNF nowadays, however this jacket is the exception and has almost every outdoor option you may want except for thumb passthroughs in the sleeve liner, which isn't the end of the world. Really an awesome jacket so I had already got one for the wife since I already have down filled and thermal jackets.
