I picked one of these up for $299 yesterday at Best Buy, so I'll stop by today and get the difference back. I read a few of the reviews and some of the commentary was amusing. Plastic-y appearance, not "high end enough" for a living room home theater, an actual refresh rate of 60HZ instead of 120HZ, etc.
Well, if there is a "high end" TV, that's not "plastic-y", and has an actual 120HZ refresh rate for $279.99....buy that instead.

I bought 6300 43" version at BJ's for $280. Set it up in bedroom. Tgis was the biggest tv I could fit in my armoire. Otherwise I think the 50" sakes out there are a better deal. Plenty good enough for my purpose. Nice picture, wide angle viewing, responsive interface, and decent sound. Not as good as my 65" XBR 850 but really for $280 it's a very good deal.

Mother in law just bought on a whim. We set it up and it is a great TV for the price!

I picked up the 6300 at Fry's a few weeks ago for $249 with their email code.

Without looking at black and white rectangles and test colors as the rtings site does, this is a fine, better than basic set. You want a "showpiece" then buy a 65" or larger set and then get a travelling drape to cover it so you don't have to stare at that big black screen all the time.

Perhaps LG models have a little less QC but the set I got delivers a good picture with no "fuzziness." I turned off the Truemotion to see about the "sharpness" and there was a slight increase in edging but not enough to make any difference to a general audience.

The unit also has good wifi reception and a USB input and I was impressed with the variety of video codecs / containers it could handle, especially mkv. It also plays music and jpegs.

To complain about styling is ridiculous. It is a TV, not jewelry.

4K - quasi 4K? OK - we are in a transition period. If you want "true" 4K then pay for it and then pay extra for Netflix or any other 4K content. Just like many "audiofiles" out there few people can tell the difference. How many filmgoers complain about watching video projection these days than actual film. That's where you can see a difference.
Video projection has gotten better but it can't compare to film - it is cheaper and good enough and that is the bottom line.

I find some of their complaints to be nit picky. But these panels get used for a lot more than watching TV or even over the air or cable TV. So in order to know if it will fit the narrow point each user wants out of a TV I guess its okay to be that picky.
