Others in previous Costco membership deals have said a new member is someone who's let their membership lapse for 18 months. Workarounds include not providing your drivers license or ID for privacy reasons. And to use alternate but factual information for your application details. I.e. Abbreviated names or nicknames. Work (if allowed) addresses or personal mailboxes, other reliable family addresses you can count on to bring you your coupon mailings. Others have traded off with spouses being the primary on the account. But not everyone has a spouse or loved one.

I get it's not a great deal and as far as I can see not all of the usual perks are given, but if you missed out on the last deal, this is better than nothing I guess.

I had Costco membership until about 7 months ago when I cancelled it. At that time, my wife as an additional member on my membership. Planning to get it again. Would this deal work? If required, I can get the membership in my wife's name this time around. Has anyone tried it in this kind of situation?

Follow the link and read the offer details yourself. To me it appears the answer is no. It says that renewals must be expired for 18 months to qualify and only one per household.

People have done it in other situations like this and needed to go to their spouse's as primary and it worked even if the spouse was a complimentary member.

If you really must try, go to your club and ask if you buy a membership it will start minus seven months in and get the name of the person you speak to so you can hold them to it. It will be like pulling teeth for sure as they're paid well and care less as it's very hard to get fired from the job. But if you insist, try, and report back. For the sure bet do it under your wife.

Kirkland steak strips are OK not great.

bagels always good

toxic dish soap a must

The deal earlier this year for $60 + case of vitamin water + whole pizza + paper towels was better IMO.

Thanks. I decided to just walk in to the store and get a new membership rather than the hassle.

Sure you're welcome. Just make sure they didn't backdate your membership to seven months ago. They actually do that sometimes although I have heard just one or two months before not seven. However it's good to check. I'd be mad if I paid for a full membership only to learn five months later I have to renew again even if it's just $30 I wasted.

Here is information I was given by costco when they denied my promotion items from last month.

Your spouse became a member at the same time that you did, as you placed her in the household position; she is also considered an existing member. The position a person is placed on the membership does not indicate that they are a new member. If they are in our system and have made a purchase, they are an existing member.
