I don't understand the concept of sale on a headphone which costs three times that of my first car.
Granted some ppl have money to spend and they will spend $3k on a headphone. But again those ppl are less cost conscious so would they really care to wait for a sale?

I can't believe this is still a point of discussion on a deals forum. Everyone has things they're willing to spend lots of money on. There are plenty of audio nerds out here who would love to pick up a pair of these headphones for cheaper than retail. Just because someone shells out more for headphones rather than clothes, cars, food, etc. doesn't mean they don't like deals too.

On top of that, there's no guarantee they sound any better than headphones at 1/4 of the price. In most cases, music items that make contact with skin (guitar strings, microphones, earbuds, etc) cannot be returned due to health reasons.
For that price, there should be a lifetime guarantee and free upgrade for x number of years.

Why would people buy lcd 2 when Monoprice clone is less than half, and sound just as well if not better?
I have the lcd 3 sir and the monoprice similarity ends at looks.
The ability to
afford and appreciate go hand in hand when owning any collectors or unique performance item be it watches, cars etc.
What I mean by apreciate is knowledge of subject matter music and sound engineering maybe even electronics and available options as in other headphones in the market for comparisons. Value is extremely relative.
Plenty of headphones to keep the average Joe happy like the kossporta pros for 50 bucks, or hd650s now on sale at mass drop for 200.
My advice to people looking at seriousy purchasing these is to look at the option of buying a lcd3 for 1k used.
Its a step up from this. And normally sells for 2k.
So a used lcd 3 for 1k is great value for money.
In my opinion.
