Suggestion: Repost Warning Popup in Hot Deals Forum

494 1,146 December 24, 2017 at 04:43 PM
To whom it may concern,

So when I was posting a deal in the Freebie section, I got a "Repost Warning" popup after submitting a deal, which I think would be very ideal especially in the Hot Deals forum. I think that would save the moderators as well as the staff a lot of time when reviewing the deals people post and whether there are any duplicates!

Hello!

Actually, there is such a feature in place. At the bottom of the page, before you submit the deal, you should see this:

Attention: Are you sure this is not a repost?
Please ensure that you have searched our forums to make sure you are not posting a deal that is already there. There is a link to the search feature.

Also, if you go beyond that a warning should pop up that asks "are you sure this is not a repost?"

Hello!

Yes, I know the feature is working in the "Freebies" section but not in the "Hot Deals" section/forum. I know it's not working because some users would write repost in the comments and I also do not get that message at the bottom of the page. I have been posting the deals by clicking on the blue button on the main website. Perhaps there is a bug or technical error? I sincerely appreciate your time into reading this!

Kind Regards,

I tested this out in HD before I posted, and the information I posted is exactly what happened when I attempted to post a deal to check. What version of the site are you using? And what browser?

I am using the main version where I just go to slickdeals.net and I am using Google Chrome (latest version).

This is the exact URL of when I post a deal: https://slickdeals.net/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=9&action_source=New+Thread+v2+Nav+Right+CTA

yep, and that is what I told you about in my post.

When I click your link, I see these two things:

First, did you search to make sure this is not a repost? <<highlighted in yellow at the top, and then
Attention: Are you sure this is not a repost?
Please ensure that you have searched our forums to make sure you are not posting a deal that is already there. <<highligted in red at the bottom of the page.

also, when you say main version...I am asking if you use classic or redseign?

Nope, still not working. I picked a deal link that was already posted. I inserted it into the field and I do not see anything highlighted. I am not sure about the version, how may I check? I am using the Forum Default according to the "Site Settings".

Scroll to the very bottom of this forum page. If you are currently viewing in Classic, you will see a link to your far left that says Redsign View. Click it if you want to switch the view to Redesign.

If you are currently viewing in Redesign, the link is on your right and says Classic. Click it if you wish to switch to Classic.

Oh okay, yes I am currently in Redesign. Should I switch to Classic to get the feature?!
