I was going to pull the trigger yesterday on the new model, the MX500. It is currently at $259, so $249 after coupon, vs. $227 for this MX300.

I have had great performance and durability with Crucial SSDs, they just work. Hopefully this 1TB model continues in that tradition. One thing I like about Crucial, they don't rush a product out, they take their time in development and seem to make sure it is solid before it goes out the door.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!!!!!

Guess I got to do some more comparing.

Guess I'm going with the newer MX500 based on newer tech, and 5 year vs. 3 year warranty.

Nice review and some comparison of the two at https://www.anandtech.com/show/12...d-review/8

I got mx300 1T on black Friday, it is cheaper than evo 850 1T. however, the performance is huge worse than evo850. If I can re-choose, I will pay more money.

Most would say EVO I am sure, and they would be right.

I forgot to mention that I have three crucial SSDs and haven't had any issues in years. If they had a m.2 for that price I'd jump on it, I need more storage but my 2.5 slot is already occupied...

I think going with the newer MX500 is a solid choice given the review. It's really not a huge price difference for something we'd probably use for many years.

You get taxed when you make money then you get taxed when you spend money and there's a new tax bill servicing the ultra rich-- I don't own a golf course, so I'll save my $20 on a $230 item (the items price has been increased due to price fixing by ultra rich corporations) and I'm not going to feel bad about it. Back on topic -- SSD prices are probably getting better next quarter.
