sooooo you bought a different model than this one, ran it with an /undefined/ receiver/amp & concluded that nothing that Klipsch makes could possibly be good?
And spending 17 times as much on a different brand gave you satisfying results?

Yes they need an amp. They are not powered.

From searching the Amazon questions :

"I'm using these in a 5.1 system as surrounds and they seem to do the job. I haven't had a chance to compare them to anything though. They work. I used the Sanus EF-SATB stands and put some blu-tak on their bases to stick them to the stands. good enough for government work. see less

How are these compared to say Dayton or KEF Q100?

Friend has that amp, these speakers, and a powered sub and he's in them under 400 bucks. It rocks. Blows my soundbar setup out of the water. Sound is clear and loud, accepts more inputs, and has a nice remote.

These speakers and that amp blow any sub 300 soundbar away.

That looks good but is a bit more. A bit more power.

Kef q100 would be a better buy but you will be paying three times this price. This would be better than Dayton (assuming you are looking at cheap Dayton's like B652 etc)

Yea you will be hard pressed to find something as good as these for the money. If no sub is needed then I definitely recommend the SA-60
