Looks like a pretty good deal on a new 2017 HD Blu-Ray player.

I thought that Sony had a big issue with non-authorized resellers when it came to warranty. The message boards used to have a lot to say about denials... but it seems like Sony changed it's tune.

Here is the Authorized list but it's only for reference. It seems to be stuck with just the A's for some reason (there should be an A-Z alphabet to just to the first letter of the store names but it's missing at least in Firefox ATM) so I can't even see if Groupon is on the list maybe someone else can.

On the Sony forums the rep seems to be saying that as long as it's NEW even if it is not an authorized seller/reseller and you have a valid receipt they will service it --> (which see above I can't confirm whether it is authorized or not because of the list being stuck on the A's ATM or at least for me with Firefox browser - but that might be a moot point).

This deal is on LivingSocial, not Groupon. In any case, neither is listed as an authorized online seller. What that means for warranty, I can't say, but this is a great price on this unit. Very tempted, since my player died in the middle of playing one of the kids' new Christmas movies.

Edit: Interesting. Both LivingSocial AND Groupon have it listed for the same price. Either way, neither of them is listed with Sony as an "authorized" dealer.

Nice catch. I got one because of it. I'm sure it's fine, but there's always the credit card protection as a backup.

Thought I also remebered seeing a $10 off $20 groupon or ?? offer through Samsung Pay, but havent pulled up the offer yet to see. That plus 6% would heat this up a bit more.

I have been sitting on this one since I missed the $99 amex google express offer. A little more off and it will be close enough or better than clearance prices w/o having to wait or risk the going OOS before I get one.

I really want/need the dual HDMI (extra audio out) and 3D Blu-ray playback and I have a feeling those two options will be gone in the 2018 models for all but the top priciest tiers. Samsung no longer has 3D blu-ray playback at all on their 4K UHD 2017 model players.

Yesterday I placed the order, credit card was charged and I got confirmation from Living Social. Two hours later came new e-mail
"We're sorry, but we were unable to process your order for Sony 4K Ultra HD Smart Blu-Ray Player with Hi Res (2017 Model) with HDMI cable Blu Ray New.
Thank you,
LivingSocial Customer Support"
and credit card was immediately refunded.
What happened? Living Social still offer it for $139. Is it because during last couple of days this player prices jump to$250 at major retailers?

I bought this Blu-ray player and it has been nothing but problems since I bought it. Loses its internet connection wired or wireless everytime it is turned off. Will not update over the Internet, you have to update using a USB stick. Paid $249. Sony has been of NO help.
