12 freaking outlets, old house with fuses and not a lot of outlets, so some idiot plugs a higher amp fuse in, and actually connects 12 plugs to it, and yeah, sounds like fire is possible.

Yes, but other one has 2 usb ports, where this one has cable and telephone suppression (I don't have a home phone line nor cable -- my cable modem is on a ups).

Good point. If the house wiring can't handle the load, doesn't matter if the surge protector can. Though seems like the fire would be somewhere besides the surge protector in that case?
