Is this worth more than double the price of the K400 Plus?

I have 2 of the k400s. I guess the only plus to this one would be the backlit keys...and rechargeable battery if you view that as a plus. Generally my TV puts off enough light for me to find someone to watch. After I find something I put the keyboard up so to me it isn't work over twice the price. If it was 30 bucks I might consider it.

Yes worth twice the price. Build quality feels much better. K400 feels like a kids toy in comparison.

most definitely.

I went through 4 K400 because of lagging and shutter. K830 is well worth price.

Definitely worth the price, I have used both of them. As one of them said k400 seems like a kids you compared to k830

Beside the backlight and the build quality better, the 400 has better touchpad (less slippery) than 830

The 400's batteries also last a year (and have for me with light usage almost daily) whereas the K830's claim to last 10 days before the need of a recharge

You can't really compare k400 and k830 as k830 is in a league of its own

The best deal was $33.59 after coupon, with newegg. I'm going to wait till this hits $40 or lower.

The crappy battery life of the k830 and batteries being built in and not user replaceable AA is why I don't like the k830. If they could get better life for it or maybe give it some solar panels to supplement the battery or something maybe.

Can someone tell me how to setup a HTPC? I have a lot bluray rips on a USB hd...connected to an i5 laptop...connected via hdmi to my new Denon x3300.
How do I actually "play" my bluray rips? Thanks.

I have both, and hands down the 830 is much better. Feels better in use, backlight keys are quieter when typing, which is handy when the wife nods off and I'm still up, and the battery lasts a long time, like month or more, between charges. I use an htpc, no cable, so I use these a lot. Love the 830, and I've had the 400s for years. Been looking for another 830 deal.

one thing I do is flip the keyboard off when not using. this helps prevent accidentally hitting keys, be it from someone or the dog. I hate having random shit happen to my computer. so with that it seems that I get really good battery life from my 830.

How much usage are you ideally getting out of one charge? You mentioned a month, but is that daily use? I'm also in the habit of constantly turning off my K400 because I have animals that love to bump it, and I'm wondering if their estimate of 10-days battery is with normal usage, constant-on, or conservative "always turning it off" usage like yours or mine.

A couple other questions I have for you or any other owner of the K830:
- Is the backlight always on when the keyboard is on, or is there a timeout on it?
- Is there a light sensor to where the backlight doesn't come on when its light enough?
- Is there a left-click on the keyboard anywhere other than by the trackpad like the K400 has in the top-left?

Also are there any other HTPC keyboards superior to the K400/K830 or are these still the best of the best for their price?
