I guess many people bought babys first IPS and don't know any better. Found out the hard way that many of those cheap ones on sale in the last few months look worse than decent monitors years older did.

I got a few when they were going for $85 new. (Just a FYI, they have been less)

The stand is very good, especially for the price. Viewing angles are good, and the image quality is serviceable. No built-in speakers (if that matters to you). OSD isn't the worst I have ever used Wink

The image quality is quite good, AH-IPS makes all the difference, so the truth is even after a few years, cheap IPS have not caught up with professional monitors of the past, not even close. The viewing angles are very wide, which creates a uniform brightness for great image quality, and makes it functional in a multi monitor setup. It compares well with my dell AH-IPS which was bought before I knew there was a difference, but I do now. My dell only edges it out slightly because it has a high gloss display vs matte.

The OSD is fast and easy to use, again, old professional monitors > new cheap ones. The buttons are on the front and there is no lag, no fumbling for creaky hidden bezel buttons which don't really line up with the osd labels as I've seen on some recent ones, also more options to set like how deep into power saving mode it can go etc. Mine would originally not sleep, because the feature was set to off I later found out, easily fixed.

The stand is also an important feature, no cheap monitor has height adjustment, let alone spring balanced adjustment so it slides and rotates easily. Getting the perfect height matters, if not for ergonomics, but to match your other monitors, the stand is heavy, solid unlike the cheaper variety.

So yea, if you are willing to deal with a used monitor, there is nothing that compares at this price. LED backlights mean these things don't fail the way they used to with fluorescent backlights, so should last quite a while longer. Before this I had tried a few "new" IPS which were on sale over the holidays, the Dell S2418HN HDR which looked like garbage, and the ASUS IPS which are always on sale in the ~100 range, both were sent straight back.

Again, AH-IPS makes a difference

Powered USB hub is a bonus, although it doesn't come with the cable, but everyone probably has a pile of those lying around at this point, so it makes it ~$10-15 a better deal considering the cost of a powered hub.

The series is known for being flicker free. z24i listed but its the same family.

Ips glow is acceptable, unless you leave a maximized command prompt on screen all the time, you will never notice.
