I thought the tax reform made it simple to file the taxes? Still need to buy a software or am I asking for too much?

"reform" is for 2018 Tax year that you file in 2019, I think

Wait it out fellas... Turbo tax gets dirt cheap around February. Just check last year's deals.

You are filing 2017 taxes. The bill hasn't taken affect yet.

So, would this one still require that I pay a fee to file the state electronically? I always get confused when I see "+ state" because that typically just means that you get the state download to calculate the taxes, but then either need to print and mail the state, or pay extra to file it online.

I don't think it ever includes state e-file. Maybe some of the special credit union deals or If you have large DDAs/investment accounts at whichever bank is offering a deal that year. Too much work to save a max of $70.
