with cricket, it's the 5GB plan for $40 for the first line, $10 off the second and $20 off thereafter

They also show a 4 lines for $110 for unlimited

MetroPCS has 4 lines for $100 and add a line for $50, so $150 total, no hidden fees. Unlimited data, text, call, etc.

They use Tmobile's service.

Their is always Google's project fi. I'm happy with them but I'm a lite data user, I use about 400 to 500mb month so my bill is around $24 to $25. If you have kids to can forget this they r data demons. Serivce is $20 plus $10 per line and $1 per 100 mb or $10 a gb however you want to read it. If you go with them use my code HJ81YU we both get $20. Service also only officially works with the pixel 1,2 and moto g4.
TMobile or Sprint will probably be better deals for you esp with the free Netflix but then you need a contract.
The Walmart plans will probably be more your speed.

Tldr: project fi = $60 a month for all your lines but data is $1 per 100 mb.

Regarding Cricket Wireless,
Data speeds limited to max of 3 Mbps. You don't have that limitation on MetroPCS. Cricket also plays second fiddle to AT&T users. MetroPCS users have the same "weight" on the network as T Mobile users do. Also, the free phone selection from Cricket Wireless is pretty horrible, and there are activation fees. My wife and I have been shopping around from plans, trying to save over our huge verizon bill, and so far, MetroPCS looks like the best one out there. I have two teenagers and a younger son and they eat up data with snapchat and games.

With Cricket Wireless you do get 8 GB of mobile hotspot usage per month which is nice if you need that. MetroPCS doesn't have that on their 4 for $100 deal.

We are searching for that Holy Grail as well. We have 7 lines, 2 are teenagers and 3 are our older parents. With verizon we are at about $350/month.. but that includes a few phone upgrades that are paid monthly.
We have 8 gigs total, and kids screw that up all the time with Snapchat. So it ends up more like +15$.

In this case, a line is a line of service. Your phone number is a line, your wife's number is a line, so a family of 5 who all need phones would need 5 lines., a family of 7 would need 7 lines, etc.
A line is just another way of saying a phone number.

I ended up going with Cricket. it's $125 a month for 5 lines on the unlimited 2 plan.

No contract, so I can switch if the service isn't so hot.
