What do these regularly sell for? Looking at the prices online this seems like you're saving a few bucks but not a whole lot unless everything I am looking at is currently showing sale prices and not regular ones.

Any reason I should upgrade to this over my Pilot Metropolitan? I've been really pleased with the writing experience on those.

You're comparing an 18k nib with an SS nib

What purpose does a fountain pen have in today's world? Do you draft documents on parchment paper?

Writing obviously.
They don't need to be romanticized. Of course they can be.
Fountain pens are still superior in ink flow and lack of pressure required to write. Only thing that comes close is something like a sharpie which is unacceptable in normal use.
If you write a lot and want to enjoy writing you can benefit from a fountain pen. Though I wouldn't buy this one.

They need to be tried because some people have trouble with fountain pens. They do work better at certain angles and some lefties have issues maintaining proper angles.
