The OP is both right and wrong.

X1 version is $16.28 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JCV1...th=1&psc=1) from $29.99.

Switch edition is 25.96 (original $40) which is cheaper than prime discounts on pre-orders. Only god knows why nintendo decided to make more expensive game cartridges again instead of expanding the storage and making every game straight up digital

Because a lot of people still want physical games when it comes to a console? Personally that's my preference. This coming from someone who is also amongst the advocates of digital gaming on the PC platform. The problem is the level of sales & deals to be had on Nintendo's platforms is and always has been paltry by comparison (and this certainly does nothing to trump being able to share a physical cart). Another issue is the way they implement digital rights, account management, and being far behind other industry leaders when it comes to a more flexible implementation for the end user as well as feature offerings that are missing. The third part of it is that I simply don't trust Nintendo enough as far as not losing access to one's digital games in the future when they decide to shut down services. Video games have always had a significant nostalgia factor and people can and do go back to replay games years later. To me all these issues detract from the efficacy of their current digital system as a whole, and until they take make major steps to revamp things then my opinion of that will not change, nor will my preference for physical games. If Nintendo wants digital to go mainstream and become a market-dominant force like it is on PC then they have a lot of work to do.
