I have bought a few t8 fixtures recently (not this exact one), I removed the ballast, changed the sockets to non-shunted and then just bought direct wire T8 LED bulbs. Tedious, but works well.

Wish they sold fixtures like that out of the box, but for some reason they always put ballasts in there and you always have to replace the sockets...

I guess it depends on your application but I wouldn't waste your money. Thankfully my garage already had 3 double florescent bulb fixtures. Pulled the ballast and rewired for LED (very simple to do instructions come with the bulbs below).

Huge lighting improvement plus not affected by the cold. If this would be for your garage etc.. you can buy less expensive florescent fixtures without the bulbs.

I haven't come across one that comes without a ballast and is already direct-wired for led t8...

Only have seen fixtures with built in led tubes, but I refuse to install fixtures where you can't easily swap the light if it goes dark. It's a pain to remove an entire fixture.

What are the chances of it going dark?? Very slim to none

Nice, wish I had known about these. Cheaper, too...

I had a non-replaceable led fixture go dark on me after just a few months. Took me 30 minutes to replace, then I had to touch up paint that got stuck onto the fixture and wasn't covered by the new one. Never again. Swapping a cheap screw-in LED bulb is a whole lot easier. And less to the landfill.
