4k movie files stuttering on pc

2,805 372 December 29, 2017 at 12:00 PM
I have a decent graphics card, probably paid 300 for it via a deal on here 2 years ago. I5 processor. Downloaded a few 4k videos, I played goodfellas via a USB drive on my TV itself, since it had 2 channel audio, the others have the dts HD 7.1 audio so playing from a flash drive is not possible from the TV itself. I hooked my pc up to the TV for the first time and the resolution is 4k,but the video files are very choppy. Any suggestions? I tried the YouTube fix for vlc but that didn't help at all. Does my pc suck?

Don't tell us any actual specs of your machine or anything . . . . . . . .

What actual codec was the 4k video in?
Assuming your running windows 10, have you watched your task manager to see what's using resources? CPU or GPU?
I assume your using VLC and not the player built into windows?

you need to do a little troubleshooting to see if it is a 4K issue or something else if you set the resolution lower does it play OK, have you disabled your AV program, tried to defrag your drive, is the video playing from the SD card or on your hard drive?

Can you play a 4K Youtube video OK
