I was quoted Out of contract price for Fios Gigabit is $105 per month, couple of weeks ago.

You can get triple play bundle for the same price, but you will have to pay fees for rentals: STB, voice, tax, etc. which jack it to over $100 per month, fine if you use TV and phone. But if you want Internet only and Gigabits, this is Verizon's best price yet for Fios Gigabit I have seen.

i have this offer. oddly when I logged in as a current customer it showed this upgrade option for $113.99/month. I selected my current rate which changed the offer to the same rate i have now. then I reselected $79.99/month for gigabit so it looks like I could sign up.

question is - what am I getting? the movies load in no more than 10 seconds (150Mbps now). pages load plenty fast. don't have teenagers yet streaming at the same time.

any good reason to upgrade? convince me Smilie

if you already have 100 or 150 mbps, even 50 mbps and you are happy with it, then this is not for you. Smilie

I had 100 mbps for 2 years and was paying 60 bucks, i was looking for a boost and the gigabit option was offered to me at 105, so no thanks.

Even if you do torrent, you wouldn't need it. If you are a heavy usenet users, then maybe. Normal day-to-day, no. If you are running a home business, then maybe. Only you can decide. Happy New Year!

I just got FIOS Gigabit couple of days ago. I don't know if its my network card or the used quantum gateway I bought off ebay , or the fios line itself, but when I do speedtest on Google's fiber speed test site or any other site, my speeds are about 400/300. Any feedback, before I call Verizon to complain.. Despite this, the speeds satisfy our data needs, but I would like to pinpoint the reason for lower speeds. I get ping about 31ms.

i would try another computer and if you have another router, try another router to see if it's the Quantum Gateway. I am assuming the Quantum Gateway is the G1100? And it has the latest firmware.

Anyhow, if you get full speed with different router, then it's the Quantum Gateway, otherwise i would try another computer connected through ethernet line, not wifi. You did say network card.

Sometimes you go to play a new steam game and you'd have to wait 10-15 minutes for download, but now, BAM! like 2-3.

Today I was able to upgrade to the Fio triple play gigabit internet for 84.99 after discounts. I was calling to cancel the service as my contract was about to be over on 2/6/18 but the rep was able to get his manager to approve the deal. I was going to switch over to spectrum which was 89.99 but rep read my notes of how I mention about new customers getting the 79.99 for the triple play deal. So he offered 2 year contract, 24 months hbo, 12 months netflix, and free gateway router on the house. I just only have to pay for the tv set top boxes for 8.99 a month. Will be waiting for a couple of days for the router and the speed increase. Not sure if this will be for everyone but he mention that I was a loyal customer for 6 years and I think that had something to do with it.

Throughput also depends on your computer/device. As well as the remote side too and you'll get all kinds of different results from different test but that's a different matter. Lots of devices won't work at full gig rates. They don't on your local gig network either. You don't see it at lower line speeds since that's the limiting factor and it's well below that of most devices. e.g., at 50 or 100 Mb you're going to see near full speed since your device tops out above that. At 1Gb that may not be the case.

If you run the router speed test on Verizon's site, then you should see near the full speed in the 800-900-ish range. If not, then there may be an issue.
