See previous front page deal discussion here: https://slickdeals.net/f/10551440-home-depot-dewalt-20-volt-max-lithium-ion-cordless-brushless-drill-driver-and-impact-combo-kit-2-tool-w-2-batteries-1-5ah-and-charger-149-free-shipping-9-11-17-only

It was $149 then and was said to be DeWalt's lower end brushless stuff.
So wait, is brushless good or not good?

Brushless is not the only thing that determines if a tool is good. Many lower end cheaper built tools are now brushless.

Good. Less wear and tear/heat on the motor = longer life.

That would not the question at all. You didn't even attempt to answer the question that was asked. And to your point, though hand tools with brushless motors are starting to get cheaper, I've not seen any truly low-end tools with brushless motors. there may be a few, but not "many", not yet.

All else being equal (construction, gearing, chuck, electronics, battery, etc.), brushless is theoretically better but you really have to compare the specs of the individual tools that you are considering. Motor specs are only a smart part of the package.

While brushed tools do have brushes that, heaven forbid, can wear out, very few people use a tool enough to actually do that and if you are a contractor using one for several years 8 hours a day, you can usually replace brushes pretty cheaply if it is eventually needed.

The performance of brushed tools is often on par with brushless models and brushed have much simpler and time-tested electronic controls. However the advanced electronics and lack of brush drag on brushless tools should result in longer battery life.
