You really can't compare these to a piece of commercial fitness equipment at the gym. The stairmaster is smooth and well built. This piece of equipment is very similar to a maxiclimber.... maybe you have seen the commercials? If not, read Amazon reviews for maxiclimber, and watch YouTube videos of actual owners. We added a maxiclimber to our home gym, and while I do like it occasionally to change things up, it is not too sturdy or smooth. The max weight rating is 240 and I'm only 220, but feel the max should be only 200 at best. We already had to replace the rollers under warranty after less than 2 months, so make sure there is a good warranty and reputable company behind the product.
