Amazon [amazon.com] has Claritin 24 Hour Non-Drowsy Allergy Tablets [amazon.com], 10 mg, 70 Count for $21.89 ($.31 each) or one other seller has the same item for $18.95 ($.27 each) with free shipping. Either one is currently a better deal compared to Walmart.com [walmart.com] or Target.com [target.com]. Even Costco [costco.com] is higher in price at this time.

$0.31 per tablet

Costco generic - 10 mg Loratadine [costco.com] - $10.99 ($0.03 per tablet)

It's the same chemical composition. As 1fortheteam said, there's no reason to buy name brand.

Read up on what makes generic different and the variances allowed (they can be quite large)...generic equates with "close enough", not identical...if you believe that generic = original of any med, then the marketing has done their job well. For this med, the Costco generic may be excellent...

Not that I personally care about allergy meds, since I don't have allergies...but wanted to chime in about generics because I'm forced to take original of another med that is 10x the cost of generic...it's good to know the pros and cons...

Yeah, and close enough is what the overwhelming majority of people need. The marketing people are the ones pushing pills that cost 1,000% more per dose as being noticeably superior in any way, shape, or form.

TD on the "deal". And I dumped a ton of rep on the informative posts.

Okay, I understand that chirality can be a problem with medicine, and thalidamide is a good example. But a claim that an approved generic is different than the original... should be documented. The information should either prove that they are equivalent, or show evidence that the "generic" is NOT an acceptable substitute.
