This is still going to require a 12 volt power adapter which looks to be another $7-9 so you may come out cheaper buying a full kit which includes the adapter as well as some other parts.

I'm pretty sure with amount of electronics we use these days, there will be a spare 12v DC adapter that can be used. Look in your electronics pile.

12 volt is pretty standard adapter. I got few one from my old WiFi router and old cordless phone. To use with Usb just Cut a old printer cable and attach it.

No, the 12V DC adapters mentioned above will NOT work. Please get a 5 Amp 12V DC adapter. 5 Amp minimum. The adapters for routers etc have 2 AMPs the most and will burnout
