Lowest Price on Epson Eco Tank Printer - Staples Store only [Model ET-3750 $250 vs $400] Per page Cost less than Laser!

$250.00

At Staples store only since you get extra $100 off on recycling 'any printer'. With $50 off regular price this week, the sale works out to $250 + taxes (original $400 - $50 sale - $100 printer trade in)

There are two models with this $100 off deal:
ET-3750 [staples.com] - Print/Copy/Scan w ADF ($250 +tax)
ET-4750 [staples.com]- adds FAX to ET-3750 plus Touchscreen menu ($300 + Tax)
Info on EcoTank Line at Epson Site [epson.com]

FYI, Epson's EcoTank printers are large capacity refilliable ink printers, with per page cost falling below Laser printer (even with high upfront cost).

OEM Ink Cost (T-502)
Black 127mL refill is $20 and is rated for 7500pages, while color is ~ $40 (3 x $13, rated for 6000 color pages). That works out to 0.26 cents for BW and 0.67 cents for color.

Both these models come with 2 sets of CMYK ink refills - pushing the overall page capacity to 14,000 BW and 11,200 Color. So even at an initial investment $250, it works out to 1c/page
[Calculation $250/(14000+11200) ~ 1c]. Much less than laser.

Now compare this to HP Instant Ink program [hpconnected.com], where even at highest $10/mo level, the per page cost is 3.3c.

I actually found it on the in store flyer. I stopped by my local Staples and it's legit on the 4750

The $100 discount was shown in a small circle when looking at the weekly ad on staples.com. It was also printed on the tag on the shelf in the store. There was no fine print listed, just "any printer." I had no problems getting it on the 3750. There are some other Epson printers that only have a $50 trade in, like the ET-7700.

First up, I bought ET-3750 at store for $250 + tax on Sunday. So yes, ET-3750 is valid.

Check your weekly flyer online, it's valid for both printers.

The guy had to call in manager to bring in the barcode to give the $100 break. Their internal bar code sheet mentioned that the trade in should not be a new printer (that is, not an unpacked $20 printer)

So why the TD on these printers? Are they crappy or something? Looking to replace a Canon AIO laser that does nothing but throw errors out...

My only issue is that they use PrecisionCore 1S (excluding the really high-dollar ones like the ET-7700/7750 and the commercial variants). 2S is way better in terms of print quality. 1S isn't terrible, but it's like... come on Epson, that was lame.

Many like myself feel that Epson is going to ship new EcoTank printers in a year or two with PrecisionCore 2S, which uses less ink and is higher quality. Planned obsolescence, basically.

They took 2S-designed printers and swapped the heads out with 1S when putting EcoTank in. So they look like 2S-era printers, but with 1S heads.

It's like taking a new Camaro, giving it a 50 mile electric range, and then putting a 10 year old engine in it. You have to choose between great economy and great quality.

I am intrigued as to why this deal got 2 red thumbsdown, vs say, neutral.

Was deal not lowest? It was.

Was the post insufficient? Heck, I included review links and offered clear per page cost analysis.

So who would give a thumbs down? Epson competitors? You decide.

Who loses? I got my unit so it's really other members of the community who can potentially miss out.

if you bring in any printer, do you get $100 off of any printer they have for sale?

No, the $100 off is on these two Epson models ( identified in the store flyer with a red circle). The trade in can be any used printer.

I picked up the last ET 4750 and I think it is a sweet deal. Faster printing then I expected! Still not sure why the TD? Clearly the lowest price ever. And I believe the "reviewers" would sing extra praise if the printer is $200 cheaper then when they reviewed it?

maybe because the post lists Epson and not Staples as the store?

I got my 4750 from Best Buy for $299 after I got a $100 credit for trading in my HP Laser printer.
