PedroR: Please do not edit this post again. You removed the entire point of me posting this wiki, which was that there are 2 types of Home Depot buckets.
The grit guards don't fit into 1 version. Hence, why I posted pics and info on choosing the correct bucket.

Editing it to say the following, doesn't cut it:
"You can buy 5-Gallon Home Depot Buckets for $2.99.
They fit the Chemical Guys Grit Guards"

Damnit! I just paid full price for two of these a couple weeks ago. These are perfect for my needs so far. When I have the means, I'd love to get Matt's setup over at obsessed garage.

I know this is a great price for the CG bucket.

But I figured I'd let people that don't care about the emblem know:

The 5 gallon Home Depot bucket is $2.99.
Buying 2, It's still cheaper than CG.

And you need 2 buckets: 1 Soapy Water, 1 Clean Water.

It fits the CG grit guard. You need 2 (see above).

Man. You know how to get these for free? Dig through a Chinese restaurant dumpster. Big ol kikkoman soy sauce containers get tossed out all the time.

The CG emblem on the bucket gives a +10 gloss buff to the shampoo and +20% resistance to swirl marks though

I've tried the buckets from lowes, home depot, auto zone, advanced auto and oreillys. None are made to fit a standard grit guard or cyclone style grit guard. They will all stop the grit guard from being placed securely at the bottom of the bucket. If I remember correctly, the bottom of the bucket has to be 12 inches in diameter to accommodate a grit guard. Or, trim the grit guard down a bit to fit a standard 5 gallon bucket. I wouldn't chance damaging my guards. For the money I've waisted on the standard buckets, this is a solid buy.

All that matters is that the guard is above the bottom, not if it's resting on the bottom.

And this is why I don't like using HD or lowes buckets. Since the guard stops half way down the bucket, it creates more stress on the walls of which is what causes them to split. It's happens to all the buckets I've owned expect these. Granted I've only owned them for a couple of weeks, but I've already used them for 4 complete washes.
