Can't add or edit deal alerts anymore

679 214 January 2, 2018 at 12:15 PM
Been hoping it was just a glitch but still happening... when I try to add or edit a deal alert I get the message:
-----------------
you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
The page you are looking for has been removed. If you are getting this error from a link via Deal Alert, this means that the thread was considered to be spam or inappropriate for the forum and thus removed.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
--------------------
I don't have any warnings or anything, so the only thing I can think of is that I wasn't very active in forums for a while (though I had many deal alerts coming to me?) so is there some activation problem? Though I can post in forums...

Thanks for any help!

Are you in Classic? Do you have any browser addons that could be blocking javascript?

I think I'm in classic... just that the look of the site hasn't changed much since I first started. I'm not sure where to check that.

I have an adblocker, though I've had it forever and been using slickdeals with it for as long as I can remember.

Could that be blocking javacript? Would it deny me permission to edit deal alerts if it sensed that, or is that the editing is done in javascript?

The editing requires javascript; if you don't have it, the links can lead to a page that gives that error Smilie

Slickdeals/deal alerts have always worked fine in this browser and to my knowledge nothing changed with any javascript settings. I just went to a javascript game site and the games appear to work fine.

Any other thoughts?

Did you try turning off your extensions?

Ah... that did work, thanks.

Any idea why the adblocker and slickdeals seemed compatible before but not now?

Hard to say without knowing what exactly it's blocking.
