Always wondered, can you just drill a hole at the top and just refill it that way?

I don't see why not, but it's pretty easy to refill anyway

I actually picked one of these up the other day and it works pretty well I guess. Something about seeing the mist come out of the ultrasonic ones makes me feel better about the efficacy but I'm sure this evaporative one is working just as fine.

I was a fan of the ultrasonic humidifier and I noticed that there will be lots of white dust built up after one season.I ended up getting an evaporative humidifier which will leave no residue.

Can't you just use distilled water to prevent the "white powder"?

How much are the filters for these guys ?

My question is where do I get distilled water? I thought about that too but it seems like it's not easy to get those unless you want to use it in a chemistry lab.

I bought three filters for $18ish on Amazon. Each filter might last a month or so?

Wait seriously? You can buy jugs at any grocery store.

I use it in my steamer to prevent unwanted buildup and promote longevity.

No, it works on air pressure.

If you equal the pressure inside of the jug with the air pressure outside pushing down on the pool of water the jug is inserted in, the whole thing will dump out.
