Sounds like a horrible idea. Never understood why people think putting a cheap acoustic in a beginners hand with most likely high action, thick strings, and having them get blisters trying to play it. Decent electric guitar and rocksmith are the best tools for getting into playing for a beginner. This $150 electric would be perfect.

Absolutely. Not a bad beginner guitar at all. Jackson makes many good guitars at various price points. Even their cheaper models are very playable, the maim sacrifices being cheaper tuners, pickups etc.

Well, it is a Les Paul shape with dual humbuckers, so definitely closer to a Gibby than any Fender.

For a beginner, yes, nothing wrong with this axe. You do not need to jump immediately into the $300-500 range. Figure out if you like playing first, get a feel for it, THEN upgrade.
