Just a side note about the Iris Motion Sensor and SmartThings.

Lately the sensors have had an issue with them following time based executions.
I have several automating sunset to 10:30pm.

But for the last couple of months they have stopped at 10:30pm and then started turning on lights again at 12am.
Not listed in any automation.
The OEM smartthings motion sensors do not exhibit this behavior.

Obviously a SmartThings firmware issue because they used to be flawless.
SmartThings support was of no help...

So I would stay away until fixed. Since it has been going on for months it does not seem like it will be anytime soon.

Hmm, no parcel shipping available. I hope they aren't discontinuing the motion sensor.
I agree w/OP about the motion sensor though—they have been extremely reliable for me. I use them for security only which is probably why I didn't encounter the issues the previous poster is having,

I have two iris motion sensors only automating sunset to sunrise if the mode isnt night and they still work. Are you using routines in smartthings or webcore/stringify? Try removing the automation and redoing it, if not, switch to stringify

I bought the iris motion sensors at $15 each way back when there was buy 2 get 1 free. I agree they are better than the ST motion sensors but $30 is still too pricey

I have about 8 and they are using the official SmartApp - Smart Lighting.
Deleting the automation and adding again was the 1st thing I tried before contacting SmartThings support.
I need them to stop executing at 10:30pm since I do not want the dog to be turning on lights in the middle of the night when I am asleep.

Then you should start utilizing location modes and when you turn on night mode, your automations that you specify to not run during night wont run. Modes are a bit confusing at first, but definitely necessary to stop unattended routine launching

Yeah I guess I could use a mode to disable motion based on time.
I already have several modes that modify which motion sensors are active based on mode.
However I have virtual buttons tied to the modes with power allowances that change the mode back to eliminate the "I forgot" issues.
So most likely need to create a completely new mode then update a ton of routines and apps.
Sounds like a lot of work to fix an official automation that worked for well over a year.
Although waiting on SmartThings to fix a broke function may not happen... I have had an open ticket from 11/3/2016 for SmartThings Robotic vacuums. Same scenario... used to work then update broke the function. No solution.

Still too expensive, but it is a great motion sensor, very responsive, great battery life and very small and unobtrusive.

I'm surprised this deal isn't getting any love. I've tried 6 different motion sensors with Smartthings and the Lowe's Iris sensor is by far the best. If you're looking for a quality motion detector look no further. These are worth the higher price tag.

I also haven't seen this sensor go on-sale since the buy 2 get 1 free deals from about 6 months ago. If you combine the current sale price with the 10 off 50 coupons and maybe some of the discounted lowe's gift cards then the price isn't all that bad.

I'll be purchasing a few of these to replace some of my crappier motion detectors. Thanks OP!
