The Wii-U is still a pretty good system for certain kinds of games. I'm surprised that Gamestop is selling them this cheap -- I know I got more than that for trading in my Wii-U to Gamestop last year. (they became worth a lot once Nintendo stopped making them and there was still considerable demand).

With an older system like this you want to make sure that the screen is OK and that the battery holds a charge (though the Wii-U "gamepad" never has very good battery time anyway). There are plenty of good Wii-U game discs you can buy pretty cheap these days so have at it!

I've owned every major Nintendo device except the virtual boy, I own all Sony PlayStations and the psp but I missed the vita, and own all iterations of the Xbox since the 360 w/Kinect. No console of this generation does as good of a job with the instant on/off as the Switch.

The Wii U is worth owning if you want to play Pikmin 3, Smash, bayonetta, or wind water HD. But this console is done. It's over. Development is done. There will be no more games. Think twice before spending $150 on a dead console vs $300 for something at the very beginning of what appears to be a successful run.

If you want current gen shiny graphics for rock bottom prices, grab an Xbox one S for a few bucks more than this Wii U.

I've got both and I'd say it's not a huge difference. Probably the best way to compare is to google side by side comparisons of Breath of the Wild since it's on both consoles.

Good price with the two games. Still hard to come by just the system for less than $150.

Sega racing is actually really good. I believe the Lego game is just mediocre

Sonic All Stars Racing is really good. I wish they'd port it or make a new one for the Switch.

The normal price for the system alone at GameStop is 139.99. 119.99 for the 8gb.

Thinking about getting this or a switch, how much different are the graphics? I wouldn't really play on the controller, just a tv.

This option is half in price so I will go with this if I were you. Switch pretty much for those who like play games on the go.

Watch out for resurfaced wiiu discs from GameStop. there have been a number of complaints that the resurfaced discs don't always work in the wiiu. It's a great price for refurbished system

The difference subtle but it does make a bit of a difference. The real difference is in the refresh rate. Mario Kart 8 on Wii U runs at 30 frames per second. On the switch it's 60. This makes the game much smoother.

Comping Zelda and Mario Kart between consoles isn't a good test. Both games were developed for the Wii U and we're adapted to the Switch for its launch.

Don't write off the portability. I find I play the Switch in portable mode on my couch more than playing on the TV.

The instant on, instant off of the Switch is the real game changer compared to any other console. You can immediately get into a game, and walk away without worrying about save points or losing screens. This is huge for parents of young kids.

Other consoles have instant on, it's not a new features. While I get the portability resolution comment, the Wii U has a second screen too
