I have 90 days of emergency funds at a minimum combined with a larger cash position than normal due to an upcoming addition to my house (next 6-12 months). Why there isn't a thread highlighting the best online banking options whether it be a Savings/MM/Checking.

Today, I learned that Suntrust bank has been paying me only .05% which is prompting me to look elsewhere

Did I miss this or are people simply using a bankrate.com for this topic?

Look at Goldman Sachs online savings account which is currently 1.40%, and you can link it to your Suntrust account for easy ACH transfer of funds.

Capital One 360 Money Market (the old ING Direct) is paying 1.3% if you have $10k.

Honestly, CU's are generally going to give you the best rates, and they are also highly regional. One local CU is giving up to 3% APY while BoA is basically zero, like you are seeing.

where do ppl go online to find their nearby CU's rate for a comparison? I mostly see Bankrate for rate comparison but it does not include CU rates.

aah.... I don't watch TV or listen to local radios much. Mostly listen to business channels on xm radio or watch live sports. So never heard of CU commercials. I really wish if there was a site like bankrate listing all CU rates.

3.00% APY is paid on balances up to $10,000 Smilie

To earn the stated APYs and rebate of ATM fees:
1. you must have e-Statement
2. Online Banking
3. 10 Debit Card transactions posted per month (excluding ATM transactions)
4. have either Direct Deposit of $750 posted in each calendar month or have 4 unique "Bill Pays" cleared in each calendar month.

I don't like 3rd and 4th condition..... especially 3rd to do 10 debit transactions each month. It's a headache and 3% is only on 10K.
