Thanks OP, got it.

My experience with Avast AV Free has been good but I'd like to have a couple of the other components such as ransomware protection.

Many complaints found (eg. ConsumerAffairs site) of Avast abusing credit card info, so I would never have bought directly from them. This offer let me buy at a great price and via Newegg.

I don't use Avast, but I have a friend that does and complains about the "noise" that it makes (pop ups with advertisements to subscribe, etc). Does anyone know if purchasing a subscription, such as this, reduces/eliminates those annoyances? I've looked at reviews online trying to get this information but haven't found much. Hoping that one of you have experience and know.

ESET NOD32 is king for me.

Sweet deal. Anyone know if it still has the sandbox feature?

Also, to get free shipping...

I stopped using the paid version of Avast because there were still pop-ups. They were mostly pop-ups explaining features of Avast at first, but then they started getting pushy trying to get you to buy into extra features. Mind you this was two years ago so maybe they've changed things up since then.

I moved over to Bitdefender then and I haven't really felt the need to look for alternatives since.

Thanks for the feedback. Is Bitdefender relatively quiet?

When I first installed it there was a pop-up notifying me of a deal they had going on and I was worried it would be just like Avast. I contacted customer support and they told me I could turn those notifications off in the settings menu.

Ever since then I haven't seen a pop-up aside from when it detects a threat. Can't say enough good things about it.

And while I have no experience with it, someone earlier suggested ESET NOD32 and I've heard nothing but good thinks about that service as well. Two good options.

There is a silent/gaming mode in the free version that removes all of the nagging. I've been using Avast hassle free for years this way.

Avast! Free is hands-down the best free AV. But when it comes to pay-for AV, it's still Kaspersky, no matter what the malware makers at the NSA claim.
