spend that extra 50 get a new one. certified refurbished doesn't mean anything when TB Written is not shown. Dont cheap out on SSD unless you don't plan on using it for long.

Plus, how would a Best Buy employee refurb an SSD? Magic? At best these guys are good for software installs and restoring a PC from a recovery partition.

I have a failed Samsung 850 bought from Best Buy I'm planning to return tomorrow. Hard crashed after a week of service. I certainly wouldn't want to buy it again.

Use CrystalDiskInfo to verify health. Probably just returns.

A lot of BestBuy stores have clean rooms where they disassemble hard drives, resolder all the cold joints, replace any memory chips with better chips made just for BestBuy , and put it all back together.
You mean the room where the factory restore everything and call it new? Lol I worked there none of that happened. At best they know how to boot into bios. Geek Squad means nothing. None of them have the actual knowledge to repair any hardware aside from replacing hdds.

LOL. computer component clean rooms cost millions of dollars even for small ones. I don't think so. LOL.

Should be the standard 15 days. My advice is get the warranty and then use it to get a brand new unit in a few months or before the warranty ends. Just say its corrupt they wont test on site. 115+15 for brand new. You'll most likely get a brand new unit if you do. Ive been using this same trick on keyboards, controllers, ect since 2010 just buy a new warranty every time you claim your warranty. Free upgrades every 2 years for about $7-15.

I guess it depends on location. I had good experience with knowledgeable staff
